| Dwain Chambers has been named in a 60-member Great Britain and Northern Ireland team for next month’s IAAF World Championships in Berlin. Chambers has been selected to race in both 100m and 200m dash, despite pulling out of the half-lap at the UK trials. UK Athletics head coach Charles van Commenee said the sprinter has more than enough qualifying times in both events and should be given his chance to compete. More ... |

| The poor performance of Asafa Powell at the Aviva London Grand Prix last Friday, where he finished the 100 metres in a very disappointing sixth place was a result of tiredness, his agent Paul Doyle said on Monday. The former world record holder clocked 10.26 seconds to finish behind fellow Jamaican countryman and current world record holder Usain Bolt, and the weak outing has been blamed on the preparation before the race. | Reigning World short sprint double champion Tyson Gay believes Usain Bolt is exactly the kind of individual track and field has been missing for many years. The American said Bolt, the Olympic champion and world record holder in both the 100 and 200 metres, brings the sort of excitement and sportsmanship to the sport that is impossible to make it boring.
